Simple Answer: To glorify God
God created us for his glory:
Genesis 1:27: ‘So God created man in his own image…’
Isaiah 43:7: ‘everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory’
Jesus Christ lived for the glory of God and commands us to live as he lived:
Psalm 40:8: ‘I delight (desire) to do your will, O my God’
John 17:4: ‘I have glorified you on earth: I have finished the work you gave me to do.’
Matthew 4:19: ‘Come, follow me.’
The New Testament commands us to live for the glory of God:
1 Corinthians 10:31: ‘… whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.’
Matthew 5:16: ‘… let you light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise (glorify) your Father in heaven.’
1 Peter 2:12: ‘Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.’
