MESSAGE OUTLINE: CHRISTIAN CONFIDENCE

INTRODUCTION
In our postmodern world everything is considered relative. Nothing is absolute.
This means that our contemporary society believes –
There is no such thing as absolute truth.
There is no such thing as an absolute moral standard.
There is no meaning and no purpose.
With this mindset it is impossible to be sure of anything – of what ‘truth’ is, of who ‘God’ is, of how to connect with ‘God’, of who we are, or of what we are here for.
But the Bible stands in very forceful contradiction to this mindset. The Bible challenges Christians to embrace and live with a sure and certain confidence.
1. JESUS CHRIST IDENTIFIES GOD
John 14:7-11a
John 10:30
2. JESUS CHRIST IDENTIFIES THE WAY TO GOD
John 14:6
John 10:7-10
Matthew 7:13,14
3. JESUS CHRIST IDENTIFIES THE TRUTH
John 14:6
John 8:12
John 5:39; Luke 24:27, 44-46
4. JESUS CHRIST IDENTIFIES TRUE FULFILMENT
John 4:14
John 6:35
John 15:5
[True human fulfilment is found only in a positive, dependant relationship Jesus Christ (i.e. to God).]
5. JESUS CHRIST IDENTIFIES HUMAN RESPONSIBILITY
John 17:4
John 4:34
